Nias Tourism

Indonesia have many islands, so there is so many beach on around those islands and it have beautiful view. Nias tourism is one of tourism place that have interesting place and beautifull beaches to visit doing surfing, diving and so many beautifull places.Nias is an island off the western coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. Nias (Kepulauan Nias) is also the name of the archipelago, containing the Hinako archipelago. It is located in a chain of islands parallel to the coast that are separated from Sumatra by the Mentawai Strait; Simeulue is located about 140 km northwest, and the Batu Islands are located about 80 km southeast. This chain, which resurfaces in Nusa Tenggara in the mountainous islands of Sumba and Timor, is the forearc of the South Sumatra Basin along the Sunda Trench subduction zone. At Nias the oceanic plate is being obliquely subducted under the Asian Plate at the rapid rate of 52 mm a year (Milsom).

Nias is an internationally famous surfing destination. The best known surfing area is Sorake Bay, close to the town of Teluk Dalam, on the southern tip. Enclosed by the beaches of Lagundri and Sorake, the bay has both left and right-hand breaks. As they wait for waves, surfers can often see sea turtles swimming below. There are also two consistent, world-class waves in the nearby Hinako Islands, Asu and Bawa. Many lesser-known, high-quality surf spots with low crowds await adventurous travelers.

Nias was part of the famous Hippie trail of the 1960s, particularly travelled by surfers, which lead to Bali. Some claim that the waves at the southern beach of Sorake are better than the ones in Maui. It has been the site of several international surfing competitions in the past, particularly before the 1998 Indonesian Reformation Movement.

Despite the storied history of surfing in Nias, international surfing in Nias has slowed down especially (but not specifically) due to the recent earthquakes. The situation is slowly changing, however.

To reach Nias, there is a weekly ship from Jakarta to Gunung Sitoli; there were ferries from Sibolga to Gunung Sitoli, Teluk Dalam, or Lahewa every day; before the Asian financial crisis hit Indonesia, there was a daily flight from Medan to Gunungsitoli. This became less frequent following the crisis.

Since the 1998 Reformation, however, transport links on and to the island have become poor. Internally, the road system is in a very bad condition. Externally the air and ferry links are unreliable. There are two ferry terminals (Gunungsitoli and Teluk Dalam) and an airport (Binaka, near G. Sitoli ) on the island, serviced mainly from Sibolga and Medan respectively. However, local ferry companies regularly go out of business (or their boats sink), so only one terminal may be active at any given time. Since the 2005 earthquake, transportation has improved to cope with the increase in travel needs for reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts. Susi Air, SMAC, Merpati Air and UNHAS are the airlines that fly to Gunungsitoli.

Jogjakarta have silver city craft like my last post in Jogjakarta ( Yogyakarta ) Silver tourism shopping place and also have beautifull beaches such like Parangtritis, Samas, Baron, Kukup, Krakal dan Glagah beach. Now we talk about Parangtritis beach. It is located about 27 km. from Yogyakarta, Parangtritis may be reached in two ways, through Kretek Village or the longer one but more well -established road through Imogiri and Siluk Village. Parangtritis Beach is a lovely beach with many impressing phenomena, naturally and supra naturally. The waves regularly bring in new wood and bamboo, washing ashore from another nearby beach probably. Some wood is picked and taken away by locals to be used for their own house. Parangtritis is an enchanting sloping beach combined with rocky hills, dunes, and a white sandy beach. Besides being famous as a recreational spot. Parangtritis is also a sacred place. Many people come to the beach to do meditation. Up to now, this area is remaining functioned as the place to perform the traditional ceremony called labuhan.

Parangtritis is steeped in Javanese mysticism and culture. It is believed there is a south axis connecting mount Merapi, the Kraton, and Parangtritis Beach. According to legend, the Queen of the South Seas--Kanjeng Ratu Kidul-- together with her confident Nyai Loro Kidul reign over the Southern seas and all within it. It is said that any person wearing clothing coloured green will be lured into the sea and to their fate by the Queen. This superstition is firmly entrenched in the minds of all Javanese, even as far North as Jakarta. It is the legend of Parangtritis that entrances all who listen. According to the legend, Kanjeng Ratu Kidul was at one time wed to Panembahan Senopati, a ruler of the mighty Mataram kingdom, and she enjoyed his company on occasions. The Western section of Parangtritis beach—Parangkusumo beach—is believed to have been the meeting place of the two mighty rulers; that of the sea and of the land. It is also at Parangkusumo beach where the ceremony of 'Labuhan' is performed, coinciding with the inaugural commemoration of Sri Sultan Haamengku Buwono X. Each year, on the 30th day of the Javanese month of 'Rejeb', offerings are given to Kanjeng Ratu Kidul. These offerings, in the ceremony of Labuhan, consist of food, clothing, hair, and fingernail cuttings of the Sultan of Yogyakarta. The offerings are cast into the sea in the hope that the Sultan and the people of Yogyakarta will have continuous peace and prosperity. The same ceremony is held on top of mount Merapi and Lawu.

It is also at Parangkusumo beach, according to legend, that volcanic activity occurred. This resulted in a formation of rocks where the Sultan of Yogyakarta and Kajeng Ratu Kidul supposedly met to discuss the well-being of the people of Yogyakarta—and of their love for each other. A small rest house was built upon this formation of rock. On two special nights—Friday and Tuesday Kliwon according to the Javanese calendar—people come from all over to meditate in the spiritual ambience.

Parang Wedang, a mineral hot spring with continuous flowing water, attracts visitors because it is believed to have healing properties for skin ailments. Although not in need of it, I found the water to be soothing and pleasant. Small change rooms, or lidos, are available for those wishing to bathe in private. The pool, as I was told, was found by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono VII. He found it his duty to care for the pool. Many locals believe the place to be a sacred sight. Many meditate there and congregate to discuss matters of importance affecting their village. Further down the beach to the east there is Langse Cave, another place of meditation. The cave itself is only accessible by bamboo ladders and rattan ropes making the sojourn to spiritual serenity almost like a rite of passage. Once down at the opening, the mouth of the cave lies bare to the Indian Ocean. It is understandable that the cave is a place of spiritual perfection; a connection of oneself with the Queen of the South Seas.

Lombok Island Tour Travelling

Lombok is an island in West Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. It is part of the chain of the Lesser Sunda Islands, with the Lombok Strait separating it from Bali to the west and the Alas Strait between it and Sumbawa to the east. It is roughly circular, with a "tail" to the southwest, about 70 km across and a total area of about 4,725 km² (1,825 sq mi). The administrative capital and largest city on the island is Mataram.

Falls to the East of Bali Island and due to its increasing popularity, Lombok is now becoming easier to access for tourists either by air or by sea. Lombok with its equatorial climate and colorful multi-ethnic cultural ambience and a wide variety of tourist sites and attractions nowadays is becoming a better choice for a holiday getaway compared to the other regular choices of tourist destinations.

Tourism in Lombok as one whole agency serves its guests to make their stay in Lombok a memorable affair. If you want to reach Lombok by air then the flights operating for this purpose are Merpati, Air Mark, Lion Air, Garuda, Silk Air, and the airport at your service are Selaparang Airport. These flights mostly operate from Mataram, Sumbawa, Surabaya, Jakarta and Yogyakarta, and the nearby hotels are Hotel Lombok, Raya, Mataram, Hotel Shahid Legi, Mataram. In case of reaching Lombok by sea one can comfortably avail of the ferry rides operating from Lombok’s Lembar Harbor. The other regular ferries operate between Poto, Tano, Sumbawa, and Labuhan Lombok while the Modern passenger catamarans render a faster service from Bali. Mabua Express operates regularly between Benoa and Lembar harbor, while Bounty Cruises travel between Benoa Harbor, Senggigi and Gili Meno. One can contact Pelni agency for bookings on boat rides in Indonesia and Lombok etc.

The various tourist sites in Lombok consist of Senggigi, Gili Islands, Rinjani National Park, Kuta & South Lombok, Mataram, Tetabatu, Sukarara, Penujak, Kuta Lombok.

All these islands have splendid white sandy beaches, clear water and coral reefs displaying the playful colored fishes as a key source of attraction. They are just the perfect place for snorkeling and trying out other ventures and sports. Gili Trawangan being the largest among the 3 islands boasts of the most number of visitors and is reputed as the party island. Each island has shops, hotels and similar agencies to help you go for money change. The travel agency of Perama has its branch in Gili Trawangan and has minor outlets in Gili Air and Gili Meno. These islands have failed to initiate the facilities of police and patrolling. Crime reporting is made either in the Island of Kepala or in the police station of the mainland. Around 20 villages surround Rinjani National Park while Senaru and Sembalun provide the main access to the national park from north and east. The community based activities are focused on the Rinjani trek center as it personifies the partnership of the national park, tourism industry, and the local communities amalgamated so as to maintain and protect the Rinjani environment. For bookings and information one can check out the travel agencies in Lombok.

- Kuta Beach displays a splendid show of white sand and turquoise sea, and is still an under developed region despite the plans for 5star hotels and resorts. This beach mostly comes alive with Nyale fishing festival in February and March and August as well, and it remains quiet and marooned the rest of the year. Several hotels like Kuta Indah Hotel and Segara Anak Cottages provide with money changing facilities. Regarding budget hotels it’s customary to consider the safety and privacy issues. The Suharti Sate House on JI provides the taste of the land as you look for a place to eat. A bemo ride around the city is the best way of domestic conveyance in Mataram.

- Tetebatu in Lombok is a town on the lower slopes of Mt Rinjani. Once you are headed from Mataram to JI. Penjanggik to Pomotong and finally a drive to Rungkang and Kotaraja and you are in Tetebatu. While in Tetebatu one need not look too much for accommodation as the hotels like, Soedjono, and Green Orry provide you with the best of the rooming amenities and grand restaurants, great food and the extra perks like swimming pool and superiorly spacious rooms. The restaurant in Soedjono offering quality food is always at your service as food service in Tetebatu is limited. Senaru on the Northern of Rinjani is a more popular base for trekking. The other attraction in Tetebatu is Air Tejun Jukat, which is a large waterfall. Tobacco hanging and drying houses and the ‘monkey forest’ are other two major attractions in the area.

- Sukarara the home to Ikat weaving on Lombok has more traditional plain chequered styles being over thrown by more gorgeous creations. To get to Sukarara, one has to drive towards southeast out of Mataram along Jl. Tgh Faisal and drive up to Praya. About 2km before Praya is the small town of Payung. Drive up to the middle of the town and continue until you reach Sukarara.

- Penujak is an important center of Lombok. To go to Penujak drive southeast out of Mataram along Jl. Tgh Faisal and drive up to Praya. At Praya drive through Batujai, and across the large steel bridge you can reach in to Penujak.

- Kuta Lombok, about 60km south east of Mataram on the coast is a sleepy surfing resort. To get here, again drive southeast of Mataram along Jl. Tgh Faisal and off to Praya and drive through Penujak. The trip shouldn't take much more than an hour as the road is in excellent condition. A number of resorts along the beach offer bungalow style accommodation and more spacious rooms. Anda Cottages and Restaurant has a peaceful garden setting and clean rooms to offer. The restaurant has a good selection local and international cuisine and serves splendid pizza. The main beach at Kuta is nice place to be during a high tide. The best beaches are near Mawan and Selong Blanak, to get there you need your own car or rent a motorbike. One can take a drive by the loop road through Mawai, Keling, Mangkung, Sengkol and back to Kuta. Despite the road being rough and steep at places.

Finally in while in Lombok, one shouldn’t miss out on the interesting artifacts featured in the Museum Nusa Tenggara Barat, Mayura Water Palace and Pura Meru making your Lombok trips a memorable affair.
